Two Terminals, Different Airlines
Kuala Lumpur has two separate terminal complexes: KLIA (the main international terminal) and KLIA2 (mostly budget carriers, notably AirAsia). They’re connected by a free shuttle but are a genuine walk/ride apart — check which one your flight uses before you plan transport.
KLIA Ekspres Train
The fastest way into the city is the KLIA Ekspres train to KL Sentral — 28 minutes, non-stop, running roughly every 15-20 minutes. It’s the best option if you’re not carrying excessive luggage and value time over cost.
Grab & Taxis
Grab (Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing app) works reliably from both terminals and is usually cheaper than a metered taxi for the ride into the city, though airport surcharges apply. Budget 45-75 minutes depending on traffic and time of day.
Budget Bus Options
Skybus and other coach services run between both terminals and KL Sentral for a fraction of the train price, taking closer to an hour with traffic.
