Bali Unpacked (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent travel and expat guide operating at destinationunpacked.com, part of the Destination Unpacked network. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

2.1 Email Addresses

When you submit your email address via our newsletter signup or giveaway entry form, we collect and store your email address. This is the primary personal data we hold. We use MailerLite to manage our email list.

2.2 Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised, aggregated data about how visitors use our website. This includes: pages visited, time on site, approximate geographic location (country/city level), device and browser type, traffic source. This data does not identify individual users. GA4 uses cookies to collect this information.

2.3 Cookies

We use the following types of cookies: Essential cookies — required for the site to function. Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used. Preference cookies — to remember your cookie consent choice. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or our cookie consent banner.

2.4 Data You Provide Voluntarily

If you contact us via email, we retain that correspondence for as long as necessary to respond and for our records.

We will never sell your personal data. We do not use your data for any purpose not listed above without your explicit consent.

Bali Unpacked participates in affiliate programmes including Booking.com, Viator/GetYourGuide, Airalo and others. When you click an affiliate link on our site and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission. This commission is paid by the merchant and comes at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content, rankings or recommendations.

Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribed addresses are deleted within 30 days. Analytics data is retained for 14 months (GA4 default). Correspondence is retained for up to 2 years unless you request deletion sooner.

  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
