Rooftop bars
The skyline views are genuinely worth the markup at least once — expect to pay a premium for the view as much as the drink, and dress codes are usually enforced.
Clarke Quay and Boat Quay
The most tourist-facing nightlife strip — reliable, a bit generic, good if you want a night out with minimal planning.
Where locals actually go
Neighbourhood bars around Tiong Bahru, Duxton Hill and Amoy Street have a more local, low-key crowd — smaller rooms, better cocktails, less of a scene.
Practical notes
Alcohol is taxed heavily, so drink prices are genuinely high across the board. Public drinking after 10:30pm is restricted in most areas outside licensed premises, so plan to be indoors by then if you’re out late.
